I can tell it's time for the kids to go back to school because I've started to sing the Post-Holiday Carols. The one I've been singing the most lately, is Make Them Go (sung to the tune of Let It Snow)
Oh, the children inside are frightful
And not a bit delightful
They're making me insane, oh
Make them go
Make them go
Make them go
Needless to say, they just laugh when I sing it. I've always made up little songs for them - particularly during tantrums. There was the ever popular "It Sucks to be You - Neener Neener Nu" and my personal favorite "Little Abby Get a Grip."
As some of you know, Abby is one of my daycare kids. She started here when she was two weeks old - she's nine now, and pretty darn fabulous but as an infant and toddler, she was a bloody screaming nightmare. This is the song that kept me from wanting to drop kick her down the stairs (too much anyway.) Her mom loved it so much she started singing it to her at home. The funniest thing was to listen to the other kids singing it to her while she was throwing a fit. It's sung to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Little Abby get a grip
Or I will put you on a ship
It will sail away very far
All the way to Zanzibar
Little Abby get a grip
Or you will take a very long trip
Ugh, I hear someone hollering my name...I'm feeling another song coming on.

Daycare kids? As well as your own? Quel horreur!
Yes, but nothing beats my hubby's version of "Head, shoulders, knees and toes," which, in his world, goes "Head, shoulders raisin toast, raisin toast."
First rule of manhood: never admit a mistake. He insists that's how the song really goes.
School starts Monday. Can't wait.
You're mean. Plain mean. :-)
I can't repeat some of the little ditties I cooked up when I worked with a roomfull of kids...Love Little Abby!
I've got my own version of Yankee Doodle Dandy I invented for my youngest!
Ahhh. I just spent a week with a child that I swear bounced off the walls every single moment she was awake. Argh!
Good to be home.
Damn. I'm still laughing about the raisin toast...
Yours aren't back yet? Mine went back the 2nd. yay!!! Yay!!! Wooohoooo! ahem. Sorry.

LOLOLOLOL!!! You so funny. I'm not as original as that. I wind up with randomness like: "Fee fi foe fred, little girls go to bed" and "Fee fi fo finner. Children set the table for dinner." Yes, an overwhelming variety, I know. But it works.
We have one at our house about one of our dogs. It's usually sung about 5am when she won't stop barking long enough to breathe because mom is taking a shower without her.
"What do you do with a Gracie Sue.
You put it in a box, that's what you do.
Seal it up and send it to the zoo.
That's what you do with a Gracie Sue."
wow - creative people - lol
I came in here to tell you I just read the EC reviews for Best Laid Plans and that it looks really kewl! (Didn't expect to be entertained with song - lol.)
Mine went back today! Whoo-hoo! Good thing too because it's raining. Love the songs. I'm going to have to try that.

Where is Bronwyn, Where is Bronwyn.
No one knows. No one knows.
My day just won't start right
Without smiles from you dear.
Ding dong dang. Ding dong dang.
Okay, but I was put on the spot for a song. Come back and I promise not to sing again.
